My name's Idrees and and I'm a young passionate beekeeper with a crazy love for honeybees and nature. My beekeeping journey started five years ago, shortly after finishing high school. I was introduced to honeybees by a beekeeper during a summer inspection. Although I was initially nervous, seeing the bees up close left me spellbound. When a honeybee landed on my hand and I looked it in the eye, I felt an overwhelming love and fascination for these incredible creatures, and so my magical and mesmerising journey into beekeeping and connecting to nature began.
After that unforgettable experience, I got my first hive in my backyard, and finishing my studies I was uncertain about my future. One day, while observing the bees, I realised that sharing my passion for honeybees was my true calling, and so I decided to dedicate myself to spreading this wonder and connection to nature to the next generation.
In January 2024, I launched Buzzing with Wonder with the mission of inspiring young minds. Our goal is to instil a love for nature and highlight the valuable lessons we can learn from honeybees. Since then, we've brought workshops and actual honeybee hives to numerous primary schools around Lancashire, including: Barton St Lawrence Primary and Broughton Primary.
The feedback from all our schools has been fantastic. Many have now set up their own hives and are planning beekeeping experiences for their students. We're also super excited to start working with our first high school in Bamber Bridge, which will begin indoor workshops in November and set up its own hives by April.
At Buzzing with Wonder we believe that the best way is the most natural way. As a result we take great care to maintain our honeybee colonies in the most natural way possible. This means no chemical treatments in our hives and leaving plenty of honey for the bees over winter, so we don't need to use artificial fondant or sugar syrups unless we really have to. Our honey therefore is of the the purest kind—raw and organic, sourced from local flora of Lancashire and completely free from chemicals.
If you're interested in interactive beekeeping workshops or setting up a hives at your school, We'd love to help. Contact us to explore how Buzzing with Wonder can inspire your students and foster a deep and profound love for nature.
